The UMW Galleries is proud to host the tenth Mid-Atlantic New Painting biennial exhibition! The competition was open to artists 18 years of age and older, living in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. Entries must have been completed within two years of the application deadline.
We received over 120 applications and will feature the work of 30 artists.
Juror: Mid Atlantic New Painting 2016 has been juried by Lauren Ross. Ross is curator of the Institute for Contemporary Art at Virginia Commonwealth University. She has servedĀ as the Nancy E. Meinig Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa, Oklahoma and she was Donald R. Mullen, Jr. Curator and Director of Arts Programs at Friends of the High Line in New York City. The University of Mary Washington Galleries is honored to have Ross as the Juror for our 2016 Mid-Atlantic New Painting Exhibition.
