The walls around the heart can be made of brick, stone, or coiled wire.

Days were spent coiling nearly a mile of floral wire in order to form a drapery of vines.  Wire is a material I have always felt comfortable with; it is tough but can be used to create delicate pieces, it lashes out when too much stress is applied, and it can be called upon to hold together larger works.  The ivy wall (segment) was a chance to take a technique and multiply it times x.  Several layers overlap each other allowing the wire to form a thick wall that obscures the view behind it, tangling itself to stop prying hands and presenting a sense of tenacity as it holds firm.

A spot of beauty is found if one looks close enough.  A mismatched strand of wire leads the viewer to discover a small flower hidden within the wall of ivy, protected by the coils.
