Hibiscus and Orange Blossom

“Being unfamiliar with tropical plants, most of our time was spent visiting citrus groves, nurseries, and parks trying to familiarize ourselves with growth habit, bloom season and characteristic fauna.”

–Fred Wampler

The hibiscus and orange blossom are categorized as tropical plants. In order to capture them, Maryrose and Fred traveled to Florida. Maryrose’s use of color is striking in this composition. The scene itself is largely tonal, featuring light to dark greenish hues, but the brilliant red hibiscus in the lower right foreground provides a beautiful contrast drawing the viewer’s eye into the scene.
