Artist Statement

Each drawing in this body of work is a representation of one day during the last nine weeks. Some pieces indirectly show thoughts and feelings I was experiencing, while others represent events that took place on that day. Some days, an idea would come to me while I was doing other things, and some days, I had to really contemplate what that day had held for me. The habitual nature of this process is something I wanted to speak to. I wanted to capture the way I actually visualize emotions and experiences in my mind on a day to day basis. I tend to see life in black and white and find myself struggling with the “gray areas,” so this work is a direct visualization of what it’s like to live a life of all or nothing.
